TRIBUTES TO HUW CHRISTIE

On behalf of the members of ACT UP San Francisco I would like to extend my sincere condolences to friends and survivors of Huw Christie upon hearing the news of his death.

Although I did not know him personally, I heard reports of his tireless work in promoting dissident views on AIDS and, of course, we all eagerly incorporated the fruits of his labor, promoted through Continuum magazine, into the spirit and mission of the new ACT UP movement. Huw's devotion to life has no doubt contributed to a better understanding of AIDS and he saved many who, without hearing a skeptical voice, would have been stampeded down the path of pharmaceutical destruction. I readily acknowledge that if it wasn't for the work of Huw and handful of other AIDS dissidents, I would not be alive today. I know others labeled HIV-positive in ACT UP SF feel the same way.

I hope that wherever Huw's spirit is now, he is being provided all the answers to the AIDS question we are struggling with here on earth. And I hope his reward is an eternity of peace and relaxation. He earned it.

I'm so sorry to hear that Huw has died. He had tremendous courage and integrity. His years of work at Continuum are a fine legacy. I'm sure that the good wishes he carries with him will ensure that he finds much- deserved joy as he moves on. Thanks to Joan for her marvellous tribute.

I am very, very sorry to learn of the passing of your dear friend and our esteemed colleague Huw Christie. I had hoped to meet him someday, having only had the pleasure of speaking with him on the phone twice--once during the commercial breaks during a radio debate.

Thank you so much for your tribute. I would imagine it is not easy to think of others at this time, but for those of us who did not have a chance to know Huw outside of his many contributions to AIDS work, your message gave us much appreciated insight into this wonderful man.

I was stunned and deeply saddened to learn from you that Huw Christie had died. I have so many fond memories of him and of his courage and convictions. We spent several hours with Baffour at his office when I passed through London in December 1999 after my trip to South Africa. Those were happy, illuminating and optimistic times that I will always cherish and never forget.

Again in Milan a month or so later, Huw was vibrant, witty, smart-as-ever, charming and buoyant. I fondly recall the table hopping amongst us at the various meals we shared, the quips, the science, the repartee, the camaraderie, the laughter, and the utter seriousness of us all at the panels and away from them.

And now........ just another god-damn gap, a deep void, an emptiness, a sense of grievous loss, a struggle to come to terms with it, tears and anger, of gnawing regret at a young life cut short and all that.

Here in remote, interior northern California to keep me company, I have all my back copies of Continuum where Huw's indomitable spirit and expert editor's hand courses through each issue.

Huw really still lives on in us - but damn it these are hard times......

Terrible news . Deepest sympathy to his family and many friends. Something must be done to extend recognition of his work, dedication and especially his support for yourself and yours for him during a difficult period.

God this is something I did not quite expect and it left me gobsmacked (excuse my French!). I remember Huw so well and although I did not have much contact with him for the time I was with the Meditel team, I had grown quite fond of him. I had perceived him as such a strong character and as we, foolish human do, always expected to see him live for ever. I would say this is such a news, I cannot really get to grasp with it all just now and please send my condolences to his family for me! Makes me feel almost guilty of still being well and alive, but something must be going right somehow! I know, never count your chicken and all that but it will happen to us all and I know when it will be the day, I as he must have done (I sincerely believe and hope!) will go as happy as it can be because of all what he had achieved. Who or Whatever is looking over and after us up there will sent him back to keep on the task undertaken (my believe and personal opinion, I know!).

Today there are many wonderful and creative resources for people who are seeking alternative information about HIV/AIDS - I can see Huw's subtle influence in every one of them.

Rather than simplistically focusing on the junk science that keeps us stuck in the AIDS Zone, every issue of CONTINUUM under his helm examined and freely discussed the social, political, emotional and economic issues necessary to really understand what was going down. And yet, some of the most important scientific papers ever written about "AIDS" also appeared in the pages of CONTINUUM, at a time when they were needed most, because none of the conventional medical/science publications wanted this information to get out and worked very hard to suppress it. In my opinion, CONTINUUM was once the unofficial voice of what has grown into the "dissident movement".

When the truth about "HIV/AIDS" is finally common knowledge, I fear that too few will be aware of Huw and CONTINUUM's considerable contribution to making this happen.

I had the pleasure of hanging out with Huw in South Africa (after the final meeting of the President's AIDS panel) and I will always remember how Huw was able to dig deep and find joy and laughter, even in the most painful times. Huw told me that he was feeling down and out, because of the serious debts that threatened CONTINUUM's survival (He felt like a failure)! He also noticed that the AIDS machine was speeding up instead of slowing down, in spite of all of the gains the dissident movement seemed to be making thanks to the courageous leadership of S.A. President, Thabo Mbeki and the skillful efforts of the S.A. dissidents. He told me that he knew that we still have a long road to hoe and he was feeling burnt and wanted to go home and rest. I could relate, and told him that, I too, had doubts about the overall effectiveness of the dissident movement in terms of the stopping the ever expanding AIDS industries. I explained that what kept me going was that I had contact with people who we were helping to take charge of their lives and health and trusted that sooner or later this murderous fraud would be exposed.

It was during this conversation that I became aware that Huw never realized just how much he and CONTINUUM meant to so many people. I remember telling him that no matter what happened, he and his CONTINUUM crew made a huge difference for the very people who were in the belly of the beast. I let him know that I was certain that CONTINUUM reached and helped many thousands of people, in ways that he could never imagine. I am sure that my feedback truly moved him, by the tears it brought to his eyes and by the way he squeezed my hand before wiping them away. A few days later Huw looked deeply into my eyes and said "Thanks mate, I needed that." We hugged and said "Until we meet again" and promised to meet in NYC as soon as he was feeling up for the visit and had the cash. That was our last actual in person, conversation - I will always treasure this memory of Huw.

In closing, Huw Christie was my friend - I feel a void in his passing and I will miss him. I will always remember his huge contribution to ending the murderous HIV/AIDS fraud and more importantly for the lifeline CONTINUUM was for so many people in the darkest days of the "AIDS' crisis.

Until we meet again mate!

Huw Christie will be remembered for his radical and revolutionary editorship of Continuum magazine which published papers proving that 'HIV' does not exist. Being Huw's Assistant Editor was both creative and challenging and very demanding as Huw's standards were always set high and sometimes we would work a 12 hour rota shift taking it in turns to type in news items and articles. Huw's genius as an editor was to ubify imagination, critique and humour which gave Continuum magazine its original, unique abd radical stance. Continuum magazine will go down in the annals of 'AIDS' history as the first publication to publish scientific evidence of the non-isolation (non-existence) of 'HIV'. I remember Huw at the 1998 AIDS Geneva Conferece challenging Dr. David Ho on why there were no published images of 'HIV' taken directly from a patients blood. Dr. Ho obfuscated and said the method to do so takes far too long to do so they rely on in-direct markers. Huw would not let go, and asked the question again in a cool diplomatic way and Dr. Ho remained silent and embarrassed. At the same conference Huw also nailed arch 'AIDS' crook, Robert Gallo and gangster Anthony Fauci to prove that 'HIV' existed: both obfuscated into metaphysical abstration like 'AIDS' Politicians usually do.

Huw was a master editor: when going through my own articles for publication he would some how transform them and give them a sharpness and clarity they lacked; he would cut out all the dross. He was always an inspiration to work with and the energy he punped into our publication cost him his life as he literally worked himself to death. Some days he'd be the only one in the office doing twenty to thirty peoples jobs! He answered post, e-mails, edited the magazine, posted it out, spoke to visitors, gave interviews, organised the archive, etc, etc. Huw Christie did not die of 'HIV' or 'AIDS': he died from a complex combination of KS and physical exhaustion from sheer work!

Huw Christie lived a deep and intense life; what he put into his life and our world in his 40 odd years was far more than most achieve and do in a life time. We will continue to carry on Huw's work in his name and in the name of truth: 'HIV' & 'AIDS' Do Not Exist.

I only met Huw Christie twice but that was enough to learn that he was an extraordinary person. He had a quick, intelligent, intense mind, which made him a fierce and effective warrior against the AIDS insanity.

Huw was an exceptionally engaging human being. He was the kind of person who is comfortable in a group. I saw him catalyze very heated but agreeable discussions among people from very different backgrounds.

We will have to carry on without Huw's unique talents, energy and drive.

I am deeply sad to know that Huw Christie passed. This is a terrible lost for the people on earth fighting for scientific truths on AIDS. His enthusiasm, courage, and dedication to the AIDS paradigm is a light that may lead us all.

Huw…

someone so many miles away…
someone we have only known about but never ever met or spoken to...

difficult to believe that it is possible to feel such a huge sense of loss.

So many of us, across the world, alone, yet together, giving our best, not knowing each other and unable to give strength to each other.

Makes us realize how precious each of us, standing up against the odds, is for the rest of us. We can only say that our tribute to Huw would be to renew our efforts, re-energize ourselves and strengthen our bonds, to take the cause forward – to its just conclusion.

With love and dedication,

On behalf of the Perth Group Eleni Papadopulos and I wish to express our profound sadness at the death of our colleague, mentor and dear friend, Huw Christie. We extend our sincere sympathy to his father Eryl, his sister Kate and all his family, as well to all those who knew him, or of him, all over the world. To Huw each of us owe an immense debt. It is from his intelligence, devotion, wit, enthusiasm and courage that we have been able to prosper and present and record the many and varied ideas our people have offered to solving the problems of AIDS. We trust we will continue to follow where he led in the hope that sometime not too far away Huw's sprit will arise from the misty mountains of Tasmania and hail a new dawn.

And when Thyself with shining Foot shall pass
Among the Guests Star-scatter'd on the Grass,
And in thy joyous Errand reach the Spot
Where I made one---turn down an empty Glass!
